JetBlue Credit Card Points

With more than 100 destinations around the USA and abroad, JetBlue is an appealing airline that’ll take you to your next destination safely and soundly. And because I often travel domestically around the USA, I’m always looking for ways to maximize my daily spending on my credit cards and earn points for free flights.

When I learned about the JetBlue Plus Credit Card, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for.

Because JetBlue flies between major cities like Denver, New York, Boston, and Los Angeles, cities I often visit, I knew I could travel around the USA for free by using my accumulation of TrueBlue credit card points. 

In this guide, we’ll explore how to use the JetBlue TrueBlue points to maximize your travel benefits and travel around the USA and international destinations for free. Different JetBlue credit cards offer a variety of perks and annual fees, so picking the best credit card that suits your budget and lifestyle is essential.

As JetBlue puts it, you can watch the points fly in with every purchase!

Where JetBlue Flies

With hundreds of destinations worldwide, picking one might take a lot of work. Across the USA, JetBlue flies to Michigan, South Carolina, Colorado, New York, California, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, and Washington.

In Central America, JetBlue flies to destinations like Belize, Guatemala, and Costa Rica, and in the Caribbean, it flies to Grenada, Bahamas, Jamaica, and Aruba.

You’ll also find JetBlue in Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Ireland, France, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. 

Understanding The JetBlue TrueBlue Rewards Program 

When you use your JetBlue TrueBlue credit card, you’ll earn points for free flights.

You can pay for your travels through daily rewards, eligible transactions on hotels, gas purchases, car rentals, and groceries. I use my TrueBlue credit card for many of my daily purchases. 

You’ll earn double TrueBlue points when you book flights using the JetBlue website or app. Best of all, there are no blackout dates, which means your points will never expire!

When I signed up, JetBlue offered a 50,000-point bonus for the JetBlue Plus Card if I spent $1,000 and paid the annual $99 fee within 90 days of signing up.

For me, collecting points wasn’t an issue. Because of the massive bonus (worth roughly $500), I could use my credit card for everyday purchases and simultaneously get a few free flights. By purchasing future flights on my JetBlue credit card, I receive 10% of my points back. 

Recently I took a flight from New York to Denver, and during the flight they offered passengers the chance to sign up for the JetBlue Plus credit card with no annual fee for the first year, plus 50,000 points when you spend $1,000 within your first three months.

This must’ve been a special in-flight offer, as (at the time of writing) the annual fee still stands if you were to apply today – an annual fee I’d say is worth paying for the rewards.

Types Of JetBlue Credit Cards

There are three types of JetBlue credit cards, each with varying annual fees and perks. Getting a credit card with a higher annual fee means you’ll reap more benefits. 

The JetBlue Card

This card is the entry-level, most standard of them all:

• $0 annual fee
• 10,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000 during the first 90 days
• Save 50% on eligible food and drink on JetBlue flights
• For every dollar spent on eligible JetBlue purchases, you’ll get 3X points
• For every dollar spent at restaurants and grocery stores, you’ll get 2X points
• For every $1 spent on other purchases, you’ll get 1X points

One of the downsides of this card is that it doesn’t have any points payback, checked bag benefits, or vacation package benefits. However, you won’t have any foreign transaction fees.

With every purchase, you’re one step closer to a Mosaic title, which offers its perks before and during your flight.

The JetBlue Plus Card

This is where we start seeing fees creep in. But with an annual fee comes more perks and rewards:

• $99 annual fee
• 50,000 bonus points after signing up, spending $1,000, and paying back the $99 annual fee within 90 days
• Save 50% on eligible food and drink on JetBlue flights
• 6X points per $1 spent with eligible JetBlue purchases
• 2X points per $1 spent at restaurants and grocery stores
• On every other purchase, you’ll get 1X points for every $1 spent
• 5,000 bonus point reward on your JetBlue anniversary
• First checked bag for free on a JetBlue flight

With this card, you also unlock the JetBlue Points Payback program. This means that for purchases of more than $25, you can redeem your points for a statement credit.

This is capped at $1,000 per year. And after redeeming and traveling on a JetBlue flight, you’ll get 10% of your points back.

This card also has vacation perks â€“ you receive a $100 statement credit (maximum of one credit per year) when you spend more than $100 on a JetBlue vacation package. An extra sweetener when booking that next trip!

The JetBlue Business Card

Lastly, the JetBlue Business Card, which is perfect for corporate spend with rewards to accumulate, including up to 60,000 points within the first 90 days:

• Annual fee of $99
• 50,000 points after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 90 days
• 10,000 bonus points when an employee makes a purchase on their employee card within the first 90 days
• Save 50% on eligible food and drink on JetBlue flights
• 6X points for every dollar spent on eligible JetBlue purchases
• 2X points for every $1 spent at qualifying office supply stores and restaurants
• Be the first to board Group A for JetBlue-operated flights

Similarly to the JetBlue Plus Card, you’ll also get 10% of your points back as a bonus and 5,000 bonus points on your anniversary.

And of course, like with all the JetBlue cards, you have the opportunity to earn their Mosaic status through every purchase and unlock exclusive access and rewards. 

Mosaic Perks

When you become a Mosaic member through credit card spend, travel spend, or a combination of both, you dive into a whole new paradise of rewards and perks.

In fact, I could write a whole article on Mosaic alone (pending!). But to summarize, there are four levels of Mosaic, each achieved by the number of ’tiles’ you earn. You need 50 tiles (equivalent of $50,000 JetBlue spend) to achieve Mosaic status.

Once you’re in the club, you’ll discover plenty of rewards such as priority boarding, your first two checked bags free, beer, wine, and liquor during the flight, same-day flight switches, priority security, preferred core seating, dedicated check-in, and much more.

You can even customize your own perks based on what will be the most worthy reward for you! It’s a brilliant program with a bouquet of incentives, and makes getting a JetBlue credit card even more worthwhile.

TrueBlue Points

There are various ways you can earn TrueBlue Points, including flights, JetBlue vacation packages, car rentals, and hotel stays:

JetBlue Flights

By booking flights through the JetBlue website, you can use your points to pay for your flights. If you’re short on JetBlue points you can settle the rest with cash, which is super helpful if you want a discounted flight and don’t have quite enough points to cover it.

And don’t forget, this helps you earn more points – I used my JetBlue card to purchase several JetBlue flights, and received 10% of my points back. By traveling, I’m earning more points to keep on traveling!

JetBlue Vacation Packages

You can also use your points to pay for JetBlue vacation packages.

For example, JetBlue currently has an offer to Curaçao, with packages that are $250 off. You need to spend a minimum of $3,500 and book the vacation within a specific time frame to get the offer.

Other packages include flight and hotel deals when booked through the JetBlue vacation packages website.

Another example at the time of writing, is flying from New York to Aruba. You can get a roundtrip flight and four nights at a hotel for $1,150 through the JetBlue vacation package portal, which you can use your JetBlue credit card for. 

Paisly

Another partner with JetBlue is Paisly, which is a company that helps with all those trip add-ons from car hire to hotels and excursions, all whilst accumulating JetBlue points.

You can also earn TrueBlue points by booking with certain car rental companies like Avis and Budget. By booking these trips through JetBlue, you earn more points for future trips. It comes full circle!

Through Paisly, you’ll get one point for every dollar spent on theme park tickets, bags from Briggs & Riley and Solo, and various stays. You’ll also get 100 points daily when renting cars from Avis/Budget and other select Paisly purchases.

Other Ways

The options are endless, and JetBlue makes it easy to earn points, which is what makes this scheme so fruitful.

You’ll get TrueBlue dining, TrueBlue Shopping, Peacock subscription, IHG Hotels, Yotel, and Airport Rewards. Shopping includes stores like JCPenney, Macy’s, Zoro, and KIND Snacks. 

How To Earn Points

Simple everyday purchases and sign-up bonuses are the best ways to earn JetBlue TrueBlue points, from shopping at the grocery store, buying coffee at a cafe, or purchasing a meal at a restaurant.

Use your JetBlue card at gas stations, online shopping, and for simple purchases. The small purchases may add up to a flight one day!

JetBlue Flight Partners

You can use your TrueBlue points on other partner airlines, such as Qatar Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. Other partners include Etihad Airlines, Icelandair, JSX, Silver Airways, Singapore Airlines, and South African Airways.

Each airline has various destinations to redeem your TrueBlue points, so you’re not confined to flying with JetBlue. 

The Flights I Bought 

I used JetBlue TrueBlue points to book a flight from Denver, Colorado, to Boston, Massachusetts. I also used TrueBlue points to book a flight from JFK, New York, to Denver, Colorado, with a short layover in Boston, Massachusetts.

I didn’t spend a penny of my own money since my TrueBlue points covered the costs of both flights. Â

How To Redeem Points On The TrueBlue Portal

I had 61,000 points sitting in my TrueBlue portal, waiting to be used. About 50,000 of those points were the bonus sign-up, and the other 10,000 I earned from simple purchases.

Booking my flight was straightforward. I signed into my TrueBlue account, and then searched for my desired flight by entering the departure airport, arrival airport, and departure date. I found several flights, so I picked one based on departure time.

The website showed me how many points it cost. Make sure you click the box that says ‘Use TrueBlue Points‘. Instead of showing a monetary price, it will say ‘From 12,800 points’. 

Once you’re through the checkout page, you’ll get an email with your flight. 

Summing Up

There are tons of pros to getting a JetBlue credit card. Whether you opt for the standard JetBlue Card or don’t mind paying the annual fee and getting the JetBlue Plus Card, you’ can reap the benefits, you’ll certainly be rewarded.

I recommend getting the JetBlue Plus Card, since you’ll quickly make back the $99 annual fee through the points JetBlue offers. They make it easy to earn points through simple purchases. 

And with the JetBlue Plus Card, you’ll get double the points with standard purchases. That quickly becomes a domestic flight across the USA! Besides, flying with JetBlue is a treat in itself, since it’s a great airline in general.

To reap the most benefits, use your JetBlue credit card for most of your everyday purchases and when you book your flights.

The biggest perk of spending money on your JetBlue card is earning a Mosaic status. With Mosaic status, traveling becomes a luxury, and you’ll get priority boarding, some free alcohol on board, same-day flight changes, and much, much more.
